What dune bashing actually is
Dune bashing is the 30-minute off-road segment of a Dubai desert safari where a trained driver takes a 4WD Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol across soft red dunes at angles that feel impossible from the back seat. It is the single most-requested part of any safari — the moment guests call a "desert rollercoaster".
Every one of our safari packages includes it. The vehicle is tyre-deflated for sand grip, the driver is FIA-trained, and the route is a tested dune loop graded for the time of day (gentler in the afternoon, tighter at sunset).
What makes a good dune bash
The dune grading
Routes are graded — a first-time family run is softer, an 'intense' run hits steeper drops.
Tyre pressure
Drivers drop tyres to ~18 psi for flotation. You literally hear the hiss at the brief-stop.
The driver
Every driver is off-road certified with 1000+ hours on Dubai sand. Not a rental fleet.
What to expect inside the car
Engine roar
Expect sustained full throttle on climbs — the V8 is loud by design.
Unexpected angles
You will tilt ~30° sideways on one or two dunes. The car is built for it.
Seatbelts on
Everyone belts in; we stop if anyone waves the 'pause please' signal.

Is dune bashing dangerous?+
Not when done by a trained operator. The cars are desert-built, the tyres are deflated for sand grip, and every driver is off-road certified. Risk of injury is low — lower than a city taxi ride, statistically.
How long is a dune bash?+
About 30 minutes in the standard safari package. We don't push past 30 because that is when motion sickness starts for most guests.
Can I opt out of dune bashing if I get motion sickness?+
Yes — tell your driver at pickup and we'll route you straight to camp in a gentler transfer, still for the same price.
Does every desert safari include dune bashing?+
Almost all. Our Morning, Evening, Premium, VIP and Private packages all include it. The exception is the 'BBQ only' camp-entry tickets, where there is no 4WD segment.
