What is Quad Biking in Dubai?

Quad biking in Dubai is a guided off-road ride on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) across the Lahbab Red Desert. Our fleet covers 8 machines — from the COBRA and SHARMAX on a fenced beginner track, through automatic open-desert quads like the Kymco and Yamaha, up to the sports-tuned Sports Single Seater and the expert-only Yamaha Raptor 700 Manual. Kids 8–13 have their own junior quad on the fenced loop. Standard session is 30 minutes, extendable to 1 or 2 hours. Prices start at AED 150 for the kids quad, AED 200 for the adult COBRA, and rise with the machine size. Helmet, goggles, fuel and Convenient Hotel Pickup included in every price.

Unlike a dune buggy, you don't need a driving license — ATVs are considered off-road recreational vehicles on private desert land. Beginners (age 14+) ride the COBRA or SHARMAX on a fenced loop with staff supervision. Confident riders (16+) graduate to open-desert quads (Kymco, Yamaha, Double Seater). Experienced ATV riders (18+) take the Raptor Manual 700 CC or the Sports Single Seater. Kids 8–13 have their own junior quad. Every group gets a 10-minute safety briefing covering throttle, brake, body position and emergency hand signals before the ride begins.

"Booked three quads together — my 9-year-old rode his own kids quad under the guide's eye, and my wife and I did the open-desert Yamahas. He hasn't stopped talking about it. Pickup from Al Barsha was spot on."

"I ride ATVs back home in Canada and was skeptical about a 'tourist' quad tour. Was wrong. Real Raptor 700s, proper desert, and the 2-hour route is long enough to actually feel like riding. Recommended."

FAQ

Quad Biking — Common Questions

How much does quad biking in Dubai cost?+
Quad biking in Dubai starts at AED 150 for the 30-minute kids quad on our fenced track. Adult prices range from AED 200 (COBRA, fenced) to AED 1,000 on the Raptor 700 (1-hour starting reference). Open-desert quads span AED 250 (Kymco) to AED 700+ (Sports, Raptor) for the first hour. Full per-machine breakdown is in the pricing table above.
Do I need a driving license?+
No. Quad biking in the Lahbab desert takes place on private desert land and is off-road recreation — no driving license required. Minimum age is 14 for our fenced-track quads, 16-18 for open-desert machines depending on the model, or 8 for the kids quad, and everyone completes our safety briefing first.
Is quad biking safe for first-timers?+
Yes. First-timers start on the COBRA or SHARMAX on our fenced beginner track — boundary-marked, speed-managed, staff-supervised. 10-minute briefing covers throttle, brakes, body position and signals. Once confident, riders graduate to open-desert Kymco or Yamaha. Helmets and goggles mandatory for every ride.
What's the difference between a quad and a buggy?+
A quad bike is a straddle-seat, handlebar-steered 4-wheeler — like a motorbike with four wheels. A dune buggy is a sit-in vehicle with a steering wheel, roll cage and harness — like a go-kart with suspension. Quads are more physical; buggies are more protective. Compare them on our Buggy vs Quad page.
Can I ride in summer?+
Yes, but early morning (06:00) or evening (17:00) only. Summer midday desert temperatures can exceed 45°C, which is unsafe for sustained physical exertion. We automatically move all Jun–Sep bookings to cool hours and pack extra water.
What should I wear?+
Long trousers (jeans or cargo), closed-toe shoes (sneakers are fine), a long-sleeve T-shirt, sunglasses, and a scarf or buff. Avoid sandals and short shorts — the exhaust and hot sand will bite. We provide helmet, goggles, gloves and a dust mask.

Quad Biking Dubai: The Complete Guide

Quad biking in Dubai means riding a four-wheeled ATV across the desert on the outskirts of the city, either on a fenced beginner track or out on open dune trails, depending on the model and your age. What Is Quad Biking in Dubai and How Does It Work?

Quad biking in Dubai is riding a four-wheeled ATV through the dunes just outside the city, on desert terrain set aside for exactly this. You book a fixed time slot — 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours — pick a vehicle, and ride either solo on a single-seater or with a passenger behind you on a double-seater. A guide leads the group along marked trails, and the exact route depends on whether your bike is rated for the fenced track or the open desert.

It's a different experience from a dune buggy, which is a roll-caged off-road buggy you drive rather than sit astride, and it's more focused than a general desert safari, which usually bundles dune bashing with dinner, entertainment, and other activities in one evening package.

The fleet runs from a small automatic Kids Quad Bike right up to a manual Raptor 700, so the "how it works" answer really depends on which machine you're on. Smaller and mid-size quads are automatic and easier to pick up in minutes; the bigger 625cc and Raptor models are manual and built for riders who already have some throttle-and-clutch coordination. The operator is DTCM licensed, and every session includes a safety briefing before you're allowed onto the sand.

How Much Does Quad Biking Cost in Dubai? (Price by Model)

Quad bike prices in Dubai range from AED 150 to AED 1,500, and the number you pay depends entirely on which model you ride and how long you ride it for. The Kids Quad Bike starts at AED 150 for 30 minutes, AED 250 for an hour, and AED 400 for 2 hours. Adult single-seaters sit in the middle: the COBRA runs AED 200/350/550, the SHARMAX AED 225/350/500, and the Kymco AED 250/400/650.

At the top end, the Yamaha Grizzly is AED 450/550/800 across the same three time blocks. The Sport Quad Bike 625cc and the manual Raptor 700 don't offer a 30-minute option at all — they start at 1 hour (AED 700 for the 625cc, AED 1,000 for the Raptor 700) and go up to 2 hours (AED 1,100 and AED 1,500 respectively). The Raptor 700 at AED 1,500 for 2 hours is the most expensive single booking available.

The full breakdown by model and duration is on our price page, and if you already know how long you want to ride, it's faster to jump straight to the 30-minute, 1-hour, or 2-hour options. None of these prices include hotel pickup, which is charged separately.

Is Quad Biking Safe for Beginners With No Experience?

Yes, quad biking is safe for beginners in Dubai as long as you're riding a model matched to your skill level, and the fenced-track bikes exist specifically for that reason. The COBRA Single Seater and the SHARMAX Single Seater both run on a fenced track rather than open desert, so there's a defined boundary, lower speeds, and a guide watching the whole group at once. Both accept riders from age 14, with guardian consent required if you're under 18.

Every rider gets a briefing before starting — throttle, brake, turning, and what to do if the quad tips on soft sand — and a helmet is mandatory on every session. The fenced layout also means there's no risk of drifting off-route into a working section of desert used by other vehicles.

If you've genuinely never touched a quad before, start on one of the fenced-track models rather than jumping straight to an open-desert bike like the Kymco or the Raptor 700. Fitness-wise, you don't need to be an athlete — steady balance and the ability to grip and steer for the length of your session is enough.

What's the Minimum Age for Quad Biking in Dubai?

The minimum age for quad biking in Dubai starts at 8 years old, but it depends heavily on which quad you're talking about. The Kids Quad Bike is built for the 8–13 age bracket and runs on a fenced track sized for smaller riders. Once you're past that age group, the minimum jumps: the COBRA and SHARMAX allow riders from 14 (with guardian consent under 18), while the Kymco and Yamaha Grizzly require riders to be 16 or older.

The open-desert big-bore machines — the Sport Quad Bike 625cc and the manual Raptor 700 — are 18+ only, no exceptions, since these are faster, heavier, and require the coordination to handle a manual gearbox on dunes.

There's one more scenario worth knowing: riding as a passenger. The Double Seater lets a driver aged 18+ take a pillion passenger from age 10, so a parent can ride with a child too young to drive solo but old enough to sit behind them safely.

Fenced Track vs Open Desert Quad Biking — What's the Difference?

Fenced track and open desert are the two riding environments on offer, and the difference comes down to boundaries, speed, and who's allowed on each. A fenced track is a marked-off loop with clear edges, lower top speeds, and closer guide supervision. Open desert means riding across real dune terrain on marked trails with no perimeter fence, at higher speeds, on bigger machines.

The Kymco Single Seater is the clearest example of the open-desert category at entry level — rated for 16+ precisely because open terrain demands more control than a fenced loop. At the far end, the Raptor 700 is strictly open desert and 18+, a manual machine meant for riders who want the full dune-riding experience.

Neither option is "better" — they're built for different riders. The fleet is split roughly along these lines: Kids, COBRA, and SHARMAX stay fenced; Kymco, Double Seater, Yamaha Grizzly, the 625cc, and the Raptor 700 all run open desert.

Single Seater or Double Seater Quad Bike — Which Should You Book?

A single seater puts one rider in full control; a double seater carries a driver plus a passenger on the same quad, and the price difference reflects the vehicle, not the headcount. The Double Seater's AED 350/550/800 pricing is charged per quad, not per rider — so two people sharing one double seater often works out cheaper per person than two separate single-seater bookings.

Among single seaters, the Yamaha Grizzly is a solid step up from the entry-level fenced models — open desert, 16+, noticeably more power. The Sport Quad Bike 625cc goes further still, built for 18+ riders who want serious speed on open terrain.

Double seater makes sense for couples, a parent riding with an older child, or anyone who'd rather share the experience than ride alone. Single seater makes sense if you want to actually pilot the machine yourself and progress toward something like the Yamaha or the 625cc over multiple visits.

What Should You Wear for Quad Biking and What Do You Need to Book?

Wear closed-toe shoes, clothes you don't mind getting dusty, and sunglasses or riding goggles if you have them. Sand kicks up constantly on open-desert routes, so flip-flops and loose skirts or dresses aren't workable; long sleeves and light trousers protect against sun and grit better than shorts and a t-shirt. Helmets are provided and mandatory.

Booking itself is straightforward: pick your vehicle based on your age and experience, choose a session length, and decide whether you want to run the basics on a fenced track first or go straight to open desert. If you'd rather handle the quad entirely on your own terms, check the self-drive option to see how that's structured differently from a standard guided session.

If you're combining quad biking with other desert activities in the same outing, the half-day package bundles more time into one booking. Hotel pickup is available but charged as an extra on top of the quad price. Book ahead where you can, since fenced-track slots for kids and beginners fill up faster on weekends.

People Also Ask

Do I need a driving license to ride a quad bike in Dubai?+

No, you don't need a driving license for a standard guided quad biking session. We run a safety briefing before every ride and supervise the group throughout.

What's the cheapest way to try quad biking in Dubai?+

The Kids Quad Bike at AED 150 for 30 minutes is the lowest price point, but it's limited to ages 8-13. For adults, the COBRA Single Seater at AED 200 for 30 minutes is the most affordable entry option.

Is the Double Seater price per person or per quad?+

It's per quad, not per rider. AED 350 for 30 minutes covers both the driver and the pillion passenger riding together on the same machine.

What's the real difference between the Kymco and the Yamaha Grizzly?+

Both are open-desert, single-seater quads, but the Yamaha Grizzly is priced higher and generally has more power on hand, making it a step up for riders who've already spent time on something like the Kymco.

Can pregnant women or people with back or heart conditions ride a quad bike?+

It's not recommended. Quad biking on dune terrain involves constant jolting and sudden movement, so check with us directly before booking if this applies to you.

What should kids wear on the fenced kids' track?+

Closed-toe shoes, comfortable trousers rather than shorts, and clothing they don't mind getting sandy. We provide the helmet, and a guardian should stay nearby to watch the session from the sidelines.

Is hotel pickup included in the quad biking price?+

No. All listed prices, from AED 150 up to AED 1,500, cover the quad session only. Hotel pickup is available but billed as an extra charge on top.

Can I bring my phone or valuables with me while riding?+

It's best to leave valuables secured with your group rather than carrying them on the quad. Ask staff on-site about secure storage before you start.

Is there a weight limit for riding a quad bike?+

There's no published weight cap, but larger or heavier riders should mention this when booking so staff can match them to a suitable model.

Is quad biking available at sunset or only during the day?+

Sessions generally run during daylight hours for visibility and safety. If you want an early-morning or sunset slot, confirm availability directly via WhatsApp.
