On-sand feel — what guides actually notice
Can-Am climbs harder. The three-cylinder engine produces a wider torque band and the firmer suspension transfers power to the ground with less wallow. Over loose sand ridges it actively throws the buggy forward. For dune climbing contests (which we sometimes run privately) the Can-Am always wins.
Polaris lands softer. FOX Live Valve reads wheel movement 200 times per second and adjusts damping in real time. On repeated landings from dune crests the Polaris absorbs the impact without jarring your spine. For a 2+ hour ride the fatigue difference is real — Polaris riders finish fresher.
Cockpit matters. Can-Am has more knee room, slightly higher seats, and the clearest sight lines for tall drivers. Polaris is wider which gives it a more planted feel in corners but tighter legroom for anyone above 190 cm.
Noise profile. Can-Am is louder — the triple cylinder note is distinctive. Polaris is quieter. If you value conversation with your passenger, pick Polaris.
FAQ
Which is more powerful, Can-Am or Polaris?+
The Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo makes 172 hp, the Polaris RZR XP Turbo makes 168 hp. On sand they feel virtually identical — the Can-Am pulls slightly harder off the line, the Polaris has smoother mid-range.
Which has a better ride for long tours?+
Polaris RZR. The FOX Live Valve suspension reads wheel movement in real time and adjusts damping on the fly, making it more comfortable for 2+ hour rides.
Can I choose the model when I book?+
Yes. Tell us in your booking notes or WhatsApp message. Both models are priced the same for 2-seat versions. The 4-seat Can-Am MAX has a small AED 100 premium over the 4-seat Polaris RZR 4 due to higher rental cost.
Which is safer?+
Equally safe. Both are ROHVA-certified, both have tubular roll cages, four-point harnesses, side nets and kill switches. Safety depends on the driver following the guide's instructions, not the model.
