Head-to-Head Comparison

Quad Bike vs Dune Buggy

Honest head-to-head — price, difficulty, photos, who each format is for. Written by the guides who run both.

Which one to pick — the short answer

Pick a quad bike if you are riding solo and have done any kind of two-wheel or ATV riding before. Pick a dune buggy if you are two people who want the same experience on one machine, or if you want a cage and a seatbelt rather than a helmet and open air. The dunes are the same; the machine is different.

Quad biking starts at AED 150; dune buggies start at AED 299. Below is a full comparison table built from what our guides actually hear on the camp radio.

Pick a quad if...

🙋

You're solo

Quads shine when it's just you and your own rhythm — no one else to sync with.

🏍️

You ride motorbikes

You'll feel at home immediately; body weight transfer translates directly.

🎯

You want the lowest entry price

AED 150 for 30 minutes is the cheapest way to get onto real red dunes.

Pick a dune buggy if...

💑

You're two people

One buggy, two seats, one bill — and you experience the ride together.

🚗

You only drive cars

The cockpit is closer to a car than a quad; no learning curve.

👨‍👩‍👧

You're bringing a child as passenger

Not possible on the adult quad; perfectly fine in a buggy.

Frequently asked

Is quad biking or dune buggy better for first-timers?+

Dune buggy is slightly gentler for complete first-timers because of the cage, the seatbelt, and the steering-wheel layout. That said, thousands of first-timers ride quads without any issue — the briefing is designed for zero experience.

Which is faster, quad or buggy?+

Top speed is similar on soft sand (~60 km/h), but a Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo buggy has more straight-line acceleration. On tight dunes a quad feels faster because you're closer to the ground.

Is a quad cheaper than a buggy overall?+

Per rider, a shared buggy can actually be the same price as two separate quads once you factor in the number of seats. Compare AED 250×2 quads versus AED 499 for a 1-hour 2-seater buggy.

Can I do both in one trip?+

Yes — we regularly run combos: a quad session in the morning and a buggy session the same afternoon. Message us for combo pricing.
