What is the Can-Am Maverick X3?
The Can-Am Maverick X3 is BRP's flagship sport side-by-side — a turbocharged four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle built in Valcourt, Canada for serious desert driving. Powered by a 172-horsepower Rotax ACE 900 Turbo RR engine, it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds and delivers 24 inches of FOX 2.5 Podium suspension travel, letting it absorb dune-drop impacts that would ground any normal 4×4. In Dubai we rent both the 2-seater Maverick X3 and the 4-seater X3 MAX from our Lahbab desert base, with hotel pickup, helmets, goggles, fuel, insurance and a professional lead guide included in every package.
The X3 is the same platform used in the Dakar Rally, the King of the Hammers endurance race, and Baja 1000. Every unit in our fleet is less than 18 months old, inspected before every session, and maintained to BRP service standards. No driving licence is required — you must be at least 18 years old and able to follow the safety briefing. Passengers (including the front seat of the 4-seater MAX) can be as young as 8 with a parent or guardian.

How much horsepower does the Can-Am Maverick X3 have?
Our flagship Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo RR produces 172 HP from a Rotax ACE 900 Turbo engine — the most powerful production side-by-side BRP makes. Earlier X3 Turbo models we also rent produce 154 HP. Both are turbocharged and deliver 0-60 mph acceleration under 4.5 seconds on flat ground.
Is the Can-Am Maverick a 2-seater or 4-seater?
We offer both. The Can-Am Maverick X3 is the 2-seater, and the Maverick X3 MAX is the 4-seater. Choose 2-seater for couples and performance-focused driving, or 4-seater for families, friends, or anyone wanting to ride along without sharing the driver seat. Both have identical 172 HP engines — the MAX just has a longer wheelbase.
Do I need an international driving licence for a Can-Am Maverick?
No licence of any kind is required. Our Can-Am Maverick rentals operate on private desert land, not public roads. You need to be at least 18 years old, able to reach the pedals, and willing to follow the safety briefing. Our lead guide will assess your confidence on a flat section before opening up the throttle.
What is included in the Can-Am Maverick X3 rental price?
Included: hotel-to-desert return pickup in Dubai, fuel, insurance (with applicable deductible), DOT-approved helmet, goggles, gloves on request, safety briefing, professional lead guide on a separate buggy, bottled water, and GoPro mount point. Not included: personal action camera, photos/video package (AED 150 add-on), and optional tip for the guide.
How fast can the Can-Am Maverick X3 go in the Dubai desert?
The X3 Turbo RR is electronically capable of 115 km/h on flat hardpack, but in the soft Lahbab and Al Qudra dunes we govern realistic speeds to around 60-80 km/h for safety. Dune crests, g-forces and constantly changing terrain make 60 km/h feel like 120 km/h on tarmac. No prior experience needed — the guide adjusts pace to your comfort level.
What makes the Can-Am Maverick X3 better than other dune buggies?
Three things: (1) the 172 HP Rotax Turbo is the most powerful engine in its class; (2) FOX 2.5 Podium RC2 long-travel shocks absorb dune impacts that would rattle cheaper buggies; (3) the full welded roll cage and four-point harnesses match professional desert rally specs. It is the same platform used in the Dakar Rally and King of the Hammers.
Can I bring my own helmet, gloves or GoPro to the Can-Am X3 session?
Yes to all three. Many guests prefer their own properly-fitted helmet. GoPros mount to the dashboard or roll-cage crossbar using any standard GoPro adhesive or clamp mount (we have mount points). We provide helmets, goggles and gloves at no cost if you come without your own.
What happens if I break or flip the Can-Am X3?
X3s are built for abuse — the roll cage and harnesses are rally-spec for a reason. Minor body damage from tipping is covered by insurance with no deductible. Driver-at-fault damage (reckless driving after warning) carries an AED 2,000 deductible. A pre-authorisation of AED 2,000 is held on your card before the session and released on return in good condition.
